I’ve always rushed the seasons. Chalk it up to ADHD but I get bored of things quickly (marriages, careers, houses…) By February, I want to wear spring things. I’ve already hauled out a pink Fendi Baguette bag (hang onto your things, kids - they inevitably come back into fashion.)
The thing is, it’s cold AF out there so I cannot wear my linens. After snowmageddon, we’ve been left with layers of ice and slush. (I have skull piercing icicles all over the outside of the house that I try to knock down from time to time - it’s grim.)
I’ve found a compromise, which is basically wearing a spring outfit (Khaki wideleg pants from Everlane, denim Banana Republic top) with one of those giant Ralph Lauren cardigans you can throw over anything year round.
Here are some cute cardigans (from $200 to the price of a car) to layer over springier pieces that keep you from freezing your behind off.
Ralph Lauren is one of those brands I wore all through high school and then ignored for 30 years (except for a brief pink pony tee phase in the late 90s) The quality is good. And you can usually get for 25-40% off if you buy things around the normal shopping-focused holidays. This is a nice one you can take into spring.
Alanui is the GOAT when it comes to big cardigans. They are not cheap (like $3K, which I still think shoudl buy you some sort of vehicle) so, again, sales are your friends.
Gap is another one of those brands I’ve ignored since high school but this piece looks like a winner and has good reviews. It’s $200 Canadian so it’s probably $50 in the US given our dollar. It looks like a winner.
Stay warm, lovelies.
